Pugs arrived at Glomar in 1987.

Since this time, Glomar Pugs have been the breeders, owners and/or exhibitors of many of New Zealand's top winning Pugs.  Many milestones reached by pugs in NZ have occured at Glomar~!

Already involved in the dog world with breeding Dobermann and Rottweilers, a pug was gifted to me by my parents when I was 10 so I had my own dog to show in the junior showmanship competitions.  Ch. Callum of Sangdore, our first pug, sold us on the breed and our house has been blessed with pugs ever since!

It has been a family effort over the last 25 years to continue breeding quality pugs that acheive well in the show ring.  We have also spent time researching and screening our dogs for hereditory issues, aiming to breed healthy pugs and to understand and reduce the incidence of issues in our dogs.  We are proud of the relationships formed with breeders worldwide, enabling us to export and import quality dogs to include in our breeding program.

Pugs have been a huge part of my life, being by my side during most milestones in my life.  Most recently, The Cookie (Aust/NZ Gr. Ch. Obsidion Fortune Cookie At Glomar - Aust) being the ring bearer at my wedding.

My husband and I live on 36 acers, 15km North of Wanganui.  Ian works as a Fitter and Turner but in his spare time enjoys managing our 20 cattle, small herd of sheep, 3 pigs and a dozen chickens!  He is assisted by his Australian Cattle Dog - Ike (NZ Ch. Taylord Ike the Bandit).

My profession as a Primary School Teacher is currently on hold while we are expecting the arrival of our first child in September.

The Pugs, of course, fit perfectly into our life style.  They enjoy supervising day to day running on our farm and keep all the other animals in line!  When they are not here with us they are on holiday with Granny and Pop at Turakina.  My parents (Roy & Liz Ward) are still actively involved with the pugs, providing them a resort location when we are away and taking the main role with whelping litters.
